Spider-Man Fan Creates Incredible Pencil Drawing of Miles Morales
A Redditor named jamiewarner11 shows off an incredible pencil drawing of Miles Morales, with the Spider-Man fan nailing the hero's classic look.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been out for some time now, giving PlayStation owners plenty of time to get accustomed to Insomniac's version of the hero's suit. Reddit user jamiewarner11 has clearly gotten familiar with every detail on the costume, though, sharing an incredible Spider-Man: Miles Morales drawing online.
This is not the first time that a dedicated and talented fan of the webslinger has shown off a pencil-based drawing of the character. Back in February, Redditor art_of_dano shared a spectacular drawing of Spider-Man based on a screenshot that they had taken from the game. The gorgeous piece took off online, amassing over 7,000 upvotes. However, the big difference between that drawing and the newer piece from jamiewarner11 is their use of color — or more specifically, lack thereof.
While art_of_dano used color to bring Miles to life, jamiewarner11's drawing is entirely done in black and white. Setting it apart from other Spider-Man fan art, this creative decision results in a brilliant final image. With the entirety of the pencil drawing being the same color, jamiewarner11 is able to show off their talent when it comes to texture work and shading.
A clear example of shading is seen on the mask, with Miles' webbing looking distinct from the rest of it. With small dots seen on the flatter portion of the mask as well, the expert level of detail is quickly made clear. The eyes are particularly impressive, as is the raised outline that surrounds them.
The texture work on Miles' arms is also great, with the different layers of the suit being easily distinguishable in the piece. A crucial aspect of any Spider-Man costume, the spider symbol needs to stand out from the rest of the outfit — and it is clear that jamiewarner11 knows this. Despite the angle only having part of the logo peaking out, the raised texture is noticeable, with the spider being well-made but not overly distracting. The red accents to the suit are also seen clearly in the image, once again boasting a different pattern that the artist brings to life.
Alongside the 2,000 upvotes the post has received thus far, 35 commenters were blown away by the art piece. Redditors like Standard_Security stated that "this is crazy," while the reply "this is absolutely insane" from TheFlashE-1 echoed this belief. Alongside the positive comments, the talented Spider-Man fan behind the art piece explained where the photo was taken from. Citing Instagram use firescorpio_photo's image as their source of inspiration, those interested can get an even better indication of how successful jamiewarner11 was at replicating the original screenshot.
With no shortage of alternate costumes for Spider-Man to wear, there will surely be some more art pieces based on outfits from the games. That said, matching the quality of this pencil drawing would be a truly tough task.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
